STARS

All participants who plan to attend workshops, meetings or advisory group sessions, sponsored by the SST 11, MUST register using the Ohio Department of Education’s System to Achieve Results for Students (STARS). SST 11 can no longer accept registration on paper, by phone, fax or email. SST 11 events scheduled to occur after June 1, 2008, will be listed on-line in STARS.

Any individual planning to register for any SST 11 event on STARS must first set up an individual Secure Application for Enterprise (SAFE) account. A SAFE account can be set up at any time, but must be established before any registration on STARS can be completed. If you already have a SAFE account, skip to Registering for events on STARS below.

Setting up a SAFE account:
Step 1: Go to the Ohio Department of Education website at https://safe.ode.state.oh.us/portal/
Step 2: Select the grey button “SAFE Account Sign In” on the left menu.
Step 3: Click “I am a new SAFE user” in the middle of the screen.
Step 4: Read the Agreement Terms and click on the “I Agree” button on the bottom.
Step 5: Choose Option 1 or Option 2 and fill in the appropriate information along with your date of birth and last four digits of your social security number. When completed, click on “Continue.”
Step 6: If information entered correctly, on the next screen your name should appear. Use the “This is my” pull down boxes to complete this screen and click on “Continue.”
Step 7: Use the Prefix, Suffix, and Gender drop down boxes and click on “Continue.”
Step 8: Use the County drop down box, and enter your phone number. When completed, click on “Continue.”
Step 9: Enter your email address and click on “Continue.”
Step 10: After you click Continue, you will be shown a box that has the option of changing the email you just provided. You will be emailed instructions to complete the sign-up process.
Step 11: Go to your email and write down your Email confirmation key number. Click on the link to the website provided to complete your registration.
Step 12: You will be required to again put in the last four digits of your social security number. The confirmation key number should automatically be filled in. If not, enter it and click “Continue.”
Step 13: Enter your preferred Account Name and Password and click “Continue.”
Step 14: Your account has been created. Click on the link provided to sign in.
Step 15: Click on “STARSV2.0” and then on “ODE.CORE Educator Profile” to set up your profile. Please select the group that best describes you:
  • Public School Teacher (K-12)
• School/District Administrator
• Other District Employee
• Early Learning Employee (Birth-5 years old)
• Other Edu Employee (University, ESC, SST, Non-Public School Teacher, etc.)
• Parent/Community Leader
• ODE Employee

After selecting the group that best describes you, follow the on-screen instructions in completing your profile. It is imperative that you complete the ODE.CORE Educator Profile using your building as the identifying organization. Without completing this, we will be unable to contact you with workshop changes or cancellations. After completing the profile, you are ready to register for events.

Registering for events on STARS

After your Safe Account has been set up, click on “STARS V2.0” to search for events. Click on Event Search. You can search by Event Name; Starts between (date range); within __ (drop down list) miles of ZIP Code; or Event Owner. State Support Team Region 11’s zip code is 43219. The easiest way to search for a professional development is by the date (if known). If the exact date of the professional development is not known, entering less information into the other search categories will show the greatest results. (For example: when searching for Alternate Assessment trainings, simply enter “Alternate” under Event Name). Enter Region 11 under Event Owner to find trainings sponsored by SST 11. Click Search.
