Family Services
SST 11 promotes strong family/educator partnerships to enhance the school success for children with disabilities. SST 11 offers information on issues, which impact families of children with disabilities through learning opportunities, technical assistance, consultation, and meetings.
The Family Services consultant works collaboratively with central Ohio School Districts, parent mentors, agencies and other groups to provide support and information to families of children with disabilities. The consultant also serves as a liaison between families and school district personnel to foster positive family/educator collaboration and teamwork. Information related to the delivery of special education services and related issues of interest to families are available upon request.
Technical assistance for parents and district personnel
- Information regarding laws that impact the education of students with disabilities, the delivery of special education services and other related issues of interest to families.
- Assist parents of preschool age children with a disability or suspected of having a disability;
- Support agencies that work with families of students with disabilities;
- Answer special education related questions linked to the evaluation of students with disabilities or suspected of having a disability and eligibility determinations; and
- Assist parents on secondary transition requirements for students 14 years and older.
