What is Early Learning Initiative (ELI)?
ELI is designed to provide children with educational experiences that will help them enter kindergarten
ready
for success and meet the child-care needs of working, low-income families. Ohio's Early Learning Initiative has been designed to provide children, often identified as at-risk for success in school, with
quality educational experiences. In addition, ELI programs provide child care services for working families.
- ELI teachers provide key learning experiences, assess children's learning, health and development.
- ELI programs offer additional hours for quality child care services beyond the educational hours.
- ELI programs follow Ohio's Early learning Guidelines for continuous quality program improvement
- ELI programs provide linkages to community services to assure that children and their families
receive the support needed, when needed.
ELI Web pages have been designed to provide information to parents and to contracted ELI agencies
and providers.
